The European Committee of the Weizmann Institute of Science (ECWIS) is committed to promoting the academic and research achievements of the Weizmann Institute of Science, a world-renowned research institute located in Rehovot, Israel.

ECWIS works to raise awareness about the Institute, its research, and its unique educational programs. It also works to develop financial resources for the Institute and strengthen scientific relationships throughout Europe.

Since its establishment in Zurich, Switzerland in 1960, ECWIS has expanded to become the warm home to 13 Societies of Friends of the Weizmann Institute of Science in the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and WYEN – the Weizmann Young European Network – a Pan-European club for entrepreneurial minds and young business leaders of the future.

The European Committee operates both out of its main office in Zurich, where it is registered as a non-profit association, and its offices at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel.

In 2021 the European Committee of the Weizmann Institute of Science ECWIS celebrated its 60th anniversary.
