The European Committee of the Weizmann Institute of Science (ECWIS), expresses our deep sadness and heartbreak over the loss of the many innocent lives taken, and for the families of the kidnapped children, women and men, in light of the horrendous terror attacks in Israel. We pray for the recovery of those who have been wounded and for the safety and wellbeing of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the security forces and rescue services, and everyone impacted by these horrendous tragedies.

Our thoughts and concerns also remain with our colleagues and friends at the Weizmann Institute of Science, as they seek safety and shelter.

As friends of our beloved Weizmann Institute of Science, we know very well how impactful Israel’s gift is to mankind, through excellent, bold, innovative and cutting-edge scientific research, as conducted in Rehovot.

This special and pure curiosity-based science is music which can never be stopped, even after the dark day that took place on Saturday, October 7, 2023, during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Tora.

The Weizmann Institute philosophy, of allowing curiosity and passion to excel and advance mankind, is here to stay and grow.

ECWIS, throughout its 13 societies of friends, all across Europe, is sending its prayers and unwavering support to the state of Israel and the Weizmann Institute of Science.
